The animation file in Granny format (GR2) that was created during Export Maya 6.0 animation to GR2 format[1] should be renamed to UUID[2] format to fit Heroes V engine policy name.
Generate UUID name[]
There are 2 ways to do this.
OR
- Use Map editor in game editor mode.
- Open the editor
- Open "View" -> "Game Database" -> "Game Database Window".
- in the "Game Database" window select "BasicSkelAnim" from the drop-down tab.
- Right click on the empty space inside the menu, select "New object".
- New window appears
- Select the file so "Inspection properties window" will populate with the file properties.
- Inspect the properties, and get the value of UID property.
- Copy it somewhere. This is the UUID[2] format name that we will use.

Rename the GR2 animation to UUID[2] format[]

- Browse the the GR2 animation file
- Rename the GR2 file with the UUID[2] value from the last step.
Please note that the GR2 extension of the file should be removed as well. By default Windows hides file extensions so you may need to enable that feature beforehand[5].

Animation file for heroes V engine is now ready!
Final result[]
At the end of this step, a heroes V animation file with UUID[2] name and no file extension should be available.
